Mariel studied Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She became the youngest coordinator in the history of Salón ACME and, while at Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, coordinated the exhibition La ropa sucia se lava en casa at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.

She has contributed to the conceptual design of several international competitions at Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, including the award-winning King Salman Park project in Saudi Arabia, and has delivered talks on “The Importance of Processes in Creativity” at Universidad Anáhuac and UNAM. Her background is further complemented by her experience at Arquitectos Artesanos and Tatiana Bilbao Estudio. She has also participated in casting direction with Guerxs, including projects for Apple, Google, and the Super Bowl with Bad Bunny, as well as Mous Lamrabat and WhatsApp’s Celebrate Cross-Cultural Identity campaign.

At AMA, Mariel is part of the Narrative Design team, where she develops project concepts, builds narrative frameworks for presentations, and coordinates the team in the delivery of conceptual projects. She also conducts key research to support decision-making in each project.

Mariel approaches design through listening, drawing inspiration from architects such as Tatiana Bilbao, Zaida Muxí, and Lina Bo Bardi, as well as spaces like the Museo Rufino Tamayo. She finds inspiration in the editorial world for its dynamism and expressive capacity, which aligns with her main interests: fashion photography, concerts, contemporary art museums, analog collage, reading, and magazine research. Housing is her preferred typology, along with elements such as water and stone.
