Jorge was born in 1991 in Colima, Mexico. He is an architect who graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara, where he completed an academic exchange at Universidad Diego Portales in Chile. In 2014, he participated in the intensive workshop “Habitar el Presente” at ETSAB, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona. He began his professional career in Guadalajara, Jalisco, developing residential and interior design projects. In 2016, he joined Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, where two years later he assumed the role of Director of Architecture.
With over nine years of experience in large-scale architectural developments, he has contributed to national and international projects such as Volga, Punto Central, The Landmark Puerta de Hierro, Landmark Reserve, Legacy Tower, Soho House Mexico City, and TRC in Mexico City.
Since joining AMA in 2023, he has led the comprehensive direction of large-scale projects, ensuring design coherence and quality from concept through final delivery. He oversees the integration of all disciplines, coordinates interdisciplinary teams, and manages client relationships, maintaining a strategic vision throughout the process.
In his approach to design, Jorge recognizes the value of materials such as stone and wood in their most natural state, as well as their contrast with more processed elements. His approach is grounded in logic and function, understanding each project through how it is inhabited and as a response to specific needs. He finds references in architects such as Renzo Piano and Kengo Kuma, as well as in spaces like the China Academy of Art and the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center, where he identifies a constant source of inspiration.
Beyond architecture, film, music, and activities such as puzzles and riddles, which involve breaking down and solving problems, are also part of his creative process. These interests intersect with his affinity for sculpture, embroidery, and travel, broadening his perspective and sensitivity toward design.
