Fernando Zuñiga

Visualization Specialist

Fernando is an architect who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is a visual artist and 3D representation specialist, with an extensive and multidisciplinary academic background. At UNAM, he completed the BIM Thesis Seminar and the International Seminar on Identity and Cultural Heritage. He also completed the Corporate Architecture Seminar with Haworth by Papsa.

He holds a diploma in BIM modeling from DGCenter. Additionally, he served as an adjunct instructor in the Graphic Representation Seminar at UNAM’s Faculty of Architecture, within Taller Reyna. His training includes the Workshop on Design, Simulation, and Robotic Fabrication and Self-Organized Form at UNAM, as well as an intensive course in visual representation with RAUM. He also contributed as an editor to the 2019 Yearbook of the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM.

Fernando has collaborated on residential, cultural, and commercial projects with private firms and public institutions, including Taller Vertebral, Rojkind + AMASA Estudio, the Instituto de Vivienda de la Ciudad de México (INVI), and BIM it in collaboration with Taller Capital. His work has been recognized in multiple competitions: he was a finalist in the international Not a Hotel competition (Japan) with Taller Vertebral; and part of the winning team with Taller Vertebral for the Pabellón Metrópoli 2024 with the proposal Firenze.

In 2025, he joined AMA, where he focuses on developing 3D models and transforming them into renderings that convey atmosphere, light, materiality, composition, and visual narrative. His work translates conceptual ideas into images, allowing both internal teams and clients to understand and evaluate projects before they are fully developed.

Fernando’s approach to design is driven by an interest in raw materials such as light, nature, wood, stone, and concrete. He seeks to design in a meticulous, distinctive, experimental, and sensitive way, drawing inspiration from architects such as Renzo Piano, Peter Zumthor, Kazuyo Sejima, Rem Koolhaas, and Alberto Kalach. He also finds reference in projects such as the Therme Vals by Peter Zumthor , and the Harbin Opera House by MAD Architects. Beyond architecture, he draws inspiration from film, documentaries, outdoor activities, observation, object composition, photography, technology, and design.
